Going under the bridge at this point. Headed to Drottingholm Palace, I assume. I visited Drottingholm Palace on a later date.
Yet another view upriver.
Looking back.
I believe these locks are left by newly married couples seeking good luck.
The view forwards.
Centered on City Hall. On the right, in the foreground, is a rock outcropping occupied by sunbathers. Closeup coming.
Zooming in shows better look on the right.
These little spots are common around the Stockholm waterfront.
The view forwards.
Turns out this stretch is part of The Historical Canal Tour.
The view looking up the canal.
City Hall in the center.
Onto a waterfront bike path...
Evidently I forgot about the panorama mode on the new camera this day...
Oops.
City Hall.
Boat doing duty as a bar/restaurant/nightclub.
The large building seen in several previous photos on the righthand side of the walking path.
Stockholm rests atop 14 islands connected by 57 bridges, declared a "City on Water". Of note: the ocean is 32 parts per million salt, whereas the water around Stockholm is only 4 parts per million. Meaning more in common with fresh water than the oceans
Beginning here, and to the Gamla Stan bridge, many of the boats moored are actually floating hotels.
This too is a hotel people can stay aboard. I believe this one is called the Maladrotten, and is moored on the western side of Gamla Stan. It can be found on www.Expedia.com. Great location, but fresh air may be a concern.
Photos coming later on from the top of these cliffs.
I recall this one from Expedia.
I suspect for a hotel room for the night, this is waaaaaaaaay overpriced.
Sadly, missed this unique auto.
Gamla Stan, between two bridges.
After the bridges.
Sodermalm is the island (of the 14 total) where the largest proportion of Stockholm's population calls home.
Time for the Stockholm Pride Parade 2014.
