The view across the mall to The National Museum. For 2,000 Yen, one got to view the special exhibition of Japanese caligraphy dating from the 8th and 9th centuries (no photos were allowed...)
This building on the museum campus housed Japanese Treasures, including a collection of masks dating from the 8th century forwards. This was the last stop of my Ueno Park exploration (quite a bit of walking!)
