A little Bohemian countryside taken from our van (we had just driven through an idyllic little hamlet but I didn't have my camera out...)
Much of our journey was down two-lane highways. Glad we didn't break down the way one large bus had.
This is the present day border crossing (staffed by gnomes). Since the creation of the EU, guards are no longer present to check passports, etc.
Good place for an "Asia Shopping Center" (on the border yet written in English...)
Czech Republic is outlined in pink.
A little bit of blue sky!
Looking down a street in Vienna
I believe the guide stated this is the most expensive building to live in within Vienna.
Evidently Austrians and their centuries of history are annoyed with that rather new upstart, Australia.
Alas, information on the architect!
A wide array of offerings in the gift shop.
Fallout shelter -- remnant of The Cold War.
Coming in low season means small crowds and being able to park very close to the attraction. Plus, due to our easy manueverability, our guides added 3 stops to the tour!
Framed! Our tour guide is seen here w/ camera encouraging the 'newbie' initiation.
Our guide initiates another newbie...
Housing for the guards...
Hard to believe just 2 weeks earlier Vienna had been buried under 6 feet of snow.
Though only 3 hours of driving apart, Vienna's weather is influenced by the Mediterranean, while Prague's is affected by the Baltic Sea.
The front yard...
View of the front door.
Large reflecting pond on the front lawn.
I believe this photo and many of the following were taken from our van as we did a driving tour about Vienna for awhile.
A little tough to anticipate where we were driving to next let alone when was the best time to click. Sadly, many photos came out blurry and were scrapped.
This photo and the next two combine to make one (ideally...Aye!)
I think there was a canal off to the left, and it was framed by the buildings. So much for trying to capture it.
